COVID-19 | Motor insurance & road licence renewal | VRT

As per Transport Malta's article VRT stations re-open with new rules.

"On May 1st, Professor Charmaine Gauci, the Superintendent for Public Health authorised the re-opening of VRT stations.

Thus, anyone whose vehicle’s licence expired after March and April 2020 and the vehicle in question needed the VRT, can now have this done. In order for the process to run smoothly and without crowding, Transport Malta is allowing a period of 3 months (90 days) for the test to be carried out and the road license to be paid after that with an Insurance agent. The 3 month period commences on Monday 4th May and ends on 31st July 2020.

This means that no vehicle with an expired licence will be allowed on the road after 1st August 2020.

According to the regulations issued by Prof. Gauci, every person taking their vehicle for the test must have both the exterior and the interior cleaned. The person in charge of the test reserves the right to refuse testing if the vehicle does not reach the required level of cleanliness.''
